Living in Alice Springs and not being able to view the vehicle ourselves, MTA inspected a Toyota Prado on our behalf. Upon receiving their report and seeing detailed photos, it was clear the seller had lied to us about the vehicles history and condition.
According to the seller it had never been in an accident, was in very good mechanical condition and the interior was pretty much unmarked. Through MTA, we found out it was a repairable writeoff and even after being 'fixed' was still in poor-bad condition. Photos of the interior showed quite a lot of marks, including a massive rip in the back of the passengers seat.
Our experience with MTA was fantastic and we highly recommend that anyone purchasing a vehicle should have it inspected though them. Upon booking the inspection, I spoke with Warwick Browne and found him to be very helpful and informative.
George Stellios conducted the inspection and I honestly cannot speak highly enough of him. He was extremely thorough and looked at the vehicle as though he was buying it himself. George phoned me after I received the report and went though it with me.
A massive thank you to the friendly team at MTA for being so thorough and providing excellent customer service. The few hundred dollars we spent on the inspection has saved us wasting over $25,000 on a pile of junk! We are still on the hunt for a car and if we find one again in your area, we will definately be giving you call! And thanks to George, I now know those extra questions to ask sellers.

I am writing this letter tonight to pass a word of HUGE thanks to one of your staff members, George Stellios.
We started out on a search for a good quality 180sx Type X. I found a what looked to be a nice white 180sx type x which turned into a bad dream ending after George found this car had holes hammered through the chassis rails which had a fancy plate that sat ontop covering the stuff up that the previous owner didn’t even know.
George didn’t stuff around, he gave me a very clear understanding of exactly what I needed to know and advice when I asked for it which made a clear choice that this wasn’t the car to buy.
The second car we thought how good is this, lucky for us George stepped up to have a look within 12 hrs of our call. Sadly for us but thankfully he then had to break the bad news of this car. It had 2 bent main chassis rails and would have been a defect to the first police officer that pulled us over and was deemed a right off in the eyes of the RTA.
My son was left broken hearted and thought this just cost me another $284.00, although he is thankful that he had a very good quality inspection done or my son would have found himself with a $16000 dollar heap of crap car.
On Thursday night once again, we found another GTR, My son gave George a ring to find out that he could get this car inspected early the next day.
Thankfully for us George gave me a ring the second he was confident to say this car was the one for your son.
George and the company he works for will be Very Highly Recommended to all my sons friends. My son and I have both seen the amount of detail that George has gone into with the photos, the clear reasons good and bad for the car and also very clear advice when my son was after it.
My son has already talked to so many friends and confidently handed out the MTA Contact details of George and MTA. I will defiantly come back again one day as the customer service was a 110% Happy.

"Having been members of NRMA for 25 years we had always relied on their vehicle inspection service when we were considering making a change with any of our cars. Since the service ceased we were at a loss as to what to do. We heard about a pre-purchase inspection service available through MTA and have been very happy with the result. Within 48 hours of calling to book an inspection I had the report available, and had taken my car back to the dealer to rectify a significant fault. The fault had been overlooked at a recent unscheduled service, and the car was about to come out of warranty. Had the fault gone undetected, the consequences could have been dire, and the expense of rectifying the mechanical fault out of warranty, would have been many thousands of dollars.
I can highly recommend the service. It represented very good value for money. The mechanic carrying out the inspection was courteous and considerate (he even gave me a lift up to the station when I dropped off the car), and extremely professional. The report was emailed to me immediately after the vehicle inspection had been completed. I will definitely be using the service again and have already recommended it to several friends."
